Media Supported File Correction

Input Size:

  • The highest quality output is created from Photoshop CMYK TIFF files. For "photographic type" graphics the larger the file the better the output. We occasionally print full-size mural displays from files less than 75MB. However, files of 150-300MB have much more detail and look noticeably better.
  • But do not over-resolve! For Electrostatic Printing 72 dpi input at full size is all that you need. Over-resolving your file will actually "muddy" up your print. We can actually do quite well with 45 dpi at full-size if necessary. For ink-Jet printing, you should build your file at 100 to 150 dpi at full size.
  • Be sure all images are saved in CMYK format. You may setup files for larger vehicles at 1/20th size at 800 dpi/ppi. Fleet Street has many templates available for vehicles. Please inquire for this service. It is free and it is a time saver.
  • Do NOT increase both image size and image resolution of your file without re-scanning. “Artificially" increasing image resolution in a program like Adobe Photoshop will reduce image quality by making the image appear out of focus and fuzzy.
  • All images placed or embedded into documents should be included separately as well. You can save a high resolution image on another disk if needed.
  • Always include a full color hard copy (printout) of the design for reference only!
  • The best results for wide format printing are achieved by creating artwork in Adobe Illustrator 8.0 or less and/or Adobe Photoshop. Some features in later versions of these programs like Illustrator 9.0/10.0 cannot be accurately processed and can result in print failures. All Quark Xpress documents need to be exported as EPS files.
  • Our art department is primarily Macintosh based. Please save all files with the proper extensions for vector files i.e.. Adobe Illustrator (version 8.0 or less) save as (.eps) and photographic files i.e.. Adobe Photoshop save as (.tif)
  • Vector files must be sent as .eps files with fonts converted to curves. Please send Adobe Photoshop PSD files along with TIFF files for reference. If we are computer cutting (vinyl cut) text or logos, make sure no lines cross each other, call us if you have any questions on this.
  • We accept 100MB Zip, CD ROM (preferred), 1 or 2 gig Jazz or Electronic Files of 6MB or less sent via e-mail: input@fleetstreet.net Larger files can be sent through our secure server. Files will not be returned unless requested.
  • We do NOT guarantee a perfect color match for your file and monitor. We print in process color. Color is device-dependent, and will vary considerable from uncalibrated monitor to uncalibrated monitor. For best results, calibrate your monitor using gamma control and SWOP standards. Your file will be printed as is unless otherwise noted. NO refunds or reprints on your prepared files.
  • If, prior to production, we discover an error in your file, we'll make every effort to correct your file upon your approval. All changes and corrections to customer supplied electronic originals will be billed at an hourly rate.
